The blood type diet is based on the idea that different types of food and food groups can be beneficial or detrimental to you depending on what your blood type is.
The blood type diet was pioneered by naturopathic physician Dr. Peter DÁdamo. According to Dr DAdamo, our blood type, like the colour of our eyes, our height or our hair colour is linked to our genetic inheritance – which means that our blood type plays a part in determining the chemical reaction that occurs between our blood and the different types of foods that we eat.
The reaction that occurs involves lectins contained in foods that affect our blood. When you eat a food containing protein lectins that are incompatible with your blood type antigen, the lectins target an organ or bodily system and begin to adversely affect blood cells in that area.
The Blood Type Diet
The Blood Type Diet is based on the fact that people have one of four different blood types: A, B, O and AB.
The blood type diet recommends that you avoid or include certain foods in your diet depending on what your blood type is. Foods are divided into three categories: Highly beneficial (food that acts like Medicine), Neutral foods (food that are neither harmful nor particularly beneficial) and Foods that are not allowed (food that acts like a Poison).
The blood type diet is believed to be effective in improving many aspects of overall health including digestive problems, fatigue, allergies, weight loss and arthritis, and it is particularly useful for chronic illness.
